Line Follower

It is an autonomous robot which follows either black line in white are or white line in black area. Robot must be able to detect particular line and keep following it. For special situations such as cross overs where robot can have more than one path which can be followed, predefined path must be followed by the robot.

Robot Specifications

    1. Robots have to operate autonomously and should not be remote-controlled (Bluetooth or any hand held device).
    2. All systems (like sensors, power supply, data-processing and control-systems) have to completely reside on the robot.
    3. The teams are allowed to use ready- made micro-controller boards/ready-made sensor kits. However they are not allowed to use Lego kits or any similar assemblies. And violation of any of the above rules shall lead to disqualification.
    4. Machine must be completely self-contained and should receive no outside assistance.
    5. Machine should have an on-board power supply. No external power supply is allowed.

Rules and Regulations

    1. The width of the line is maximum 250mm.
    2. The length of the line is maximum 250mm.
    3. The height of the line has no limit.
    4. A maximum of 4 members are allowed in a team.
    5. The robot must be controlled autonomously with no human aid.
    6. The controller unit should be embedded in the robot and cannot be placed outside the robot.
    7. The robot must be started manually with a start button. The start button should have the word written near the button. The button is pressed by a judge. 8. The robot must be powered by a power source such as a battery fixed on the robot.
    9. The Robot cannot be powered by a stationary power source connected to the robot by a cord.
    10. One team member is elected as the robot handler. Only that team member is permitted to handle the robot during the game. All other team members must remain outside the game zone.
    11. The robot will be placed at the START point and checked by one of the referees.
    12. Robots that cause deliberate interference with other robots or damage to the field will be disqualified.
    13. Humans that cause deliberate interference with robots or damage to the field will be disqualified.
    14. It is expected that the aim of all teams is to play a fair and clean game

Time Keeping

    1. Time shall be measured by an electronic gate system or by a judge with a stopwatch, based on the availability of equipment. In either case the recorded time shall be final.
    2. The track consists of checkpoints and three hand touches are allowed before the checkpoint and equal no of hand touches are allowed between the finish line and the checkpoint.
    3. Each hand touch attracts a time penalty of 5 seconds.
Claims because of changing lighting conditions in the room or any other reason shall not be entertained participants will have to deal with these "disturbances".
